Description
The simple, oversized jumper knitting pattern is exactly what it says on the tin. It’s simple, both in design and construction, and it’s oversized, but you can knit a size down if you like a slightly less slouchy fit.
It’s the perfect pattern for beginner knitters, and those with a little experience, to transition into making garments and pick up a few new skills. You’ll knit the front, back and sleeves of the jumper separately and then sew them together. You’ll also pick up stitches around the neckline to create a neat collar to match the ribbing of the cuffs and hem.
This pattern is quite unusual, in that you use two different sizes of knitting needles rather than the pair you would usually use. The larger needle creates a looser stitch, while the smaller needle keeps things neat and prevents the jumper from stretching out. It’s an interesting technique, and it creates a really nice finished texture for the jumper.
Skills you’ll use when knitting this jumper include knit stitch, rib stitch, decreasing, picking up stitches and seaming.
