KNITTING UPDATES

October Knitting Update

October has been a really fun month for knitting, and, in fact, for life in general. I’ve had a few projects on the needles this month, and I’m excited to share my progress with you. I started the month with only one project on my needles, and that was my Patons Odpins Dolman Sweater. I knit this from a mystery yarn my Mum had gifted for me, bought from a charity shop with no label, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. It’s gorgeously fluffy and cloudy in  ...

Patons Odpins Dolman Sweater in Mystery Yarn

This knitting pattern will always have a special place in my heart. It’s one that’s been in my stash for many years, thoroughly loved but untouched, until now. I first came across this pattern over a decade ago, when my lovely late Nannie, my knitting inspiration, offered to make it for me. I clearly remember that I wore it to school one own clothes day, with a vintage pleated skirt and strings of beads, all in varying shades of brown. The fact that that lovingly-made jumper was  ...

Diana Headband by Kari-Helene Rane

I have to be honest and say that this post has been a long time coming, but you’ve got to agree that it’s better late than never! If you’ve been following me on Instagram for a while, you might have seen that I took my first ever foray into cables back in August. Cables are something that I had wanted to try for a really long time, having requested, and gratefully received, some cable needles last Christmas. Like quite a lot of new skills in knitting, though, they seemed  ...

Third Time Lucky with Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim DK

You might have seen the high neck and v-neck cropped vests that I knit from Debbie Bliss Cotton Denim DK in charcoal earlier this year. However, while each of them turned out kind of how I wanted, they were both lacking something in terms of fit. The high neck vest was too large around the back, and I found myself  ...

Dream Blanket Knitting Pattern

If you follow me on Instagram, you’re probably bored of me harping on about my dream blanket by now! It’s been in my feed for a pretty long time, and I covered it in my last two knitting updates, too. However, it really is just that good. I first came up with the basic idea for this blanket about a year ago. I’d recently finished a larger version of the Tin Can Knits Fly Away blanket, and I wasn’t happy with the result. The pattern is great, but my neon orange colour  ...

September Knitting Update

Well hey there! It’s been a little while since I’ve given an update over here, and even though that’s the case, there’s not a huge amount to report. My knitting progress has been a little slower over the past couple of months as I’ve focused on one project at a time and allowed myself to prioritise other things over my knits. I struggled for a while with how to balance my love of knitting with my desire for minimalism, but I quickly realised that it’s all  ...
