MY WINTER KNITTING PLANS

I’ve been feeling inspired lately. The joy has come back into knitting for me over these last few months, and I’m looking forward to nothing more in this season than long, cosy evenings at home watching my favourite shows and knitting away on my latest project. I’ve been making plans, some to use up yarn that I have in my stash, and some to knit projects I’ve been thinking about for a while.

My first project, and one that’s already underway, is a chunky sweater vest to use up the Lauren Aston Designs Super Chunky yarn that I’ve had in my stash for years. I’m knitting the main body from a lighter grey, and plan to use a darker grey for the arm bands and neck band. I’m also making it up as I go along, so I hope the fit and shaping turn out well! In all honesty, I’m not sure how much this garment will fit in with my personal style, but I’m excited to see how I can build it into outfits and try something new.

Next on my list, and another project I’m improvising, is a colour block sweater. I’ve got two shades of Stylecraft Batik DK, and I’m thinking about a relaxed fit, longer-line sweater. Again, it’s a step away from my usual style, but I’m excited to be experimenting and trying new things.

Next we come onto the projects that I’ve had on my to-make list for a while, but haven’t had the yarn to make. That is, until my LoveCrafts order was delivered today!

First up is Park & Knit’s No Sweat Shirt pattern. Years and years ago I sketched an idea for a knitted hoodie, but never did anything with it, and so when Park released this gorgeous pattern it was basically love at first sight! I can’t wait to cosy up in this design.

Also on my list is Kolibri by Johanna’s Claude Sweater. I’m a sucker for a simple design, and this one is gorgeous. I love the length, the fit and the shaping of those sleeves, and I really look forward to a meditative time spent knitting all of that garter stitch.

And finally, I want to make the Cozy Cottage Socks from This Handmade Life. I love to snuggle up with some hand knit socks, especially on days when I’m working from home, and these cable beauties are basically the socks of my dreams.

I’m not sure whether I’m being optimistic with my plans, but I’m definitely in my stride with knitting right now and I want to keep up the momentum! I’m planning to continue posting monthly knitting updates, so you can keep up with how I’m getting on. Until next time…
