It’s been a really long time since I knit something that wasn’t one of my own pattern designs, and the last time that I did it didn’t turn out so well. I guess that experience put me off, but I’ve also been focusing less on knitting, and more on creating a balance of hobbies that collectively bring me joy.
Recently, though, I ended up back in my yarn stash and was immediately hit with the motivation to work with the cotton yarns that I bought way back in the summer of last year. I had got them with the intention of designing, but there are really only so many designs I can work on in a season, and I’d much rather be wearing them than having them sit around unloved. Plus, I’m really in need of some more summer tops for when the weather is a bit warmer, so it’s a perfect match.
This led me to do something I haven’t done in absolutely ages – browse on Ravelry for patterns! In honing my focus on other things, I haven’t really had the brain space for seeing what is out there, but once I’d spent a few minutes on our favourite knitting site, the inspiration was real! I’m conscious that I don’t want to get too carried away and overwhelmed with things to knit and projects to finish, but there are three patterns that I want to share with you…
Mysa Top by Hooked on Tilly
This top is super simple and totally classic, and I think it will be the perfect addition to my work summer wardrobe. I usually wear high waisted trousers to work, and this will look great tucked in, and keep me cool with its short sleeves. This is the first one on my list to knit, so you can expect to see more about it very soon!
The Bonfire Tank by Attic 166
I am absolutely in love with the ribbing on this vest, and know it will see me through summer days spent adventuring. I’ll probably make mine a little shorter, because I live in high waisted bottoms, but I’m so excited to work this one up. I’m not sure what colour to go for, but I’ve got a black, a light grey and a dark grey option so I have plenty of choice!
Dany by Courtney Little
I am obsessed with the incredible structured detailing on this top, it is insane. I tend to avoid tops that would show your bra straps because I’m not a massive fan of going braless or strapless, but I would definitely dig out my strapless bra for this! I don’t have much to say except that I am in love and will be working this up in time for summer!
